In more youthful travels, I've been known to pack 40 pounds of rocks in my baggage on the way home. Now I resist picking up beautiful stones and photograph them instead. Whether it's cracks, colors, lichen patterns, graceful sculpting by erosion, or mosaics of smooth pebbles, I find the art in the Earth's stonework to be rich in design and beauty.
