Sage advice given to me as a kid: "Always shuffle your feet while wading in shallow saltwater, especially if you can't see the bottom clearly." This is a curious big stingray who swam over to check me out while wading in the Gulf shallows at St. Vincent Island. BTW, you can clearly see the stinging barb on the tail. Rays don't like to be stepped on.
